With donations of time and resources from members, businesses, and individuals, the Association sponsors many important charitable activities and programs. With the help of the government and related organizations, it promotes children’s welfare by establishing an Emergency Relief Fund to look after underprivileged children in Taiwan. The fund provides subsidies for living, educational, and medical expenses, to allow these children to free themselves from the bond of poverty, and to have the chances for a bright future.
The Association also provides long-term music rhythm courses for hearing-impaired children.? These courses allow hearing-impaired children to cross-over into the world of sounds and to build up their self-confidence in interacting with people around them.
Since 2005, CCA has established a special program , called “Expressive Art Therapies for Children with Latent Capabilities”, to offer referrals and medical support for children under 16 of age with hyperactivity disorder, autism, emotional behavioral disorders and multiple handicaps, etc. to receive therapies, for mid-low and low income families in Taiwan. We wish to provide equal opportunities for these children to explore and to learn in the society, disregarding their economical and medical problems. Presently, we are successfully cooperating with “Taiwan Adventist Hospital”, and “Chang Gung Memorial Hospital”, both Linkou and Taoyuan Branch, annually helping 50 children under this program.
In addition, the Association participates in symposiums on children support and assistance, sponsored by the government and the private sector, in order to exchange information, to promote cooperation, and to strengthen professional knowledge.
In the future, the Association hopes to extend its focus on support from Taiwan, to other countries in the world, offering help to underprivileged children all over the globe. The ultimate ideal of the Association is to enable all children to have the chances of a good childhood, and the abilities to develop themselves, regardless of their races or nationalities. |
